Some things worth remembering
That I have this space to write when I need it (I need it).
That the name of the town in Chile where you can stand on the beach next to TC and it's so dark that all you see is foam from the waves like milk and stars, milk and stars, is Puerto Saavedra, and that even though you told TC that and he never said anything he still clearly heard you, has been hearing you all along.
That it's OK to break down a little bit.
That it won't always make any sense: a parent can be there for you for all the cuts and scrapes and bruises and college freak-outs and still just get up and walk away with it, or sort of walk away from it, like a body leaving its head behind.
That waves and waves of people have come to California to leave their history behind. Why are you always looking for it everywhere?
That justice is undeconstructible, even Derrida said so.
That newborns need to be burped. There are many quiet, manual tasks that they require, and they sleep on you too. It's work, but it's also a strange and special kind of space.
That I have no idea how to "monetize" this blog, but thanks for asking.
That the air above your sleeping son's forehead is as holy as the rain. I stole that, but it's also true.
